Where do I start? With the focus on accountability in the teaching profession today, more and more teachers are being asked to create Professional Portfolios. A complete Professional Portfolio can take a while to build, but as a teacher, you don't need to take on the whole task at once. It's important when creating your Professional Portfolio to have an idea of the intended purposes and the ultimate structure before you begin. Be sure to read our information on the Purpose and Structure of a Professional Portfolio before anything else. Next, you should take a look at the Main Sections of a Portfolio, and take the time to briefly get acquainted with what a complete Professional Portfolio should look like. When you are ready to begin the actual work on your own Portfolio, create an account with PortfolioMaker.ca and go to the Build your Portfolio section. Probably the best place to start your Portfolio is with the "Professional Learning" section. This section demonstrates your insight into yourself as a teacher, and a lifelong learner. We recommend you complete the entry called Professional Learning as a Habit of Mind to start. Previous: Why Portfolios? |
