The Technology Section

The Technology section of your Portfolio should emphasize and demonstrate the following:

  • The importance of incorporating technology in teaching and learning, both to address multiple ways of learning and also to ensure technological literacy.
  • Recognition that our students must be comfortable in different technological areas if they are to be productive citizens in our changing world.
  • That technologies provide useful tools for understanding and mediating the world around us, and different technologies are more closely connected with certain kinds of knowledge and activities than others.
  • That there is a wide range of technologies, including computer technologies.

We recommend the following entries to this section:

  • A Belief Statement which includes reference to the above principles, to the global connections and knowledge which are accessible to our students through the internet, and to our possibilities for collaboration with teaching colleagues through the internet.
  • Your Computer Applications skills and knowledge.
  • Other Technologies that apply to you.
    • E.g. General arts technologies or General non-computing technologies
  • Any Subject-specific Technology you may be familiar with.
    • E.g. Laboratory techniques; Science field techniques; Year-book technologies; Drama technologies
  • Annotated tables of both Teacher and Student Web Sites of Particular Interest to You.

The Build Your Portfolio assistant will give you specific tables and charts, which you can use to keep this compacted.
